Structure of a pen needle

The correct pen needle for each insulin pen

Not all pen needles fit every insulin pen. Insulin pens have different threads on the ampoule casing, either a single or a double thread.

The use of universal pen needles, such as the mylife™ Penfine®, makes it easier for persons with diabetes and the diabetes team caring for them to use a variety of insulin pens.

It is particularly important to use the correct needle length to make sure that the insulin is injected into the fatty tissue between the upper skin layers and the muscle (subcutaneous injection). The age of the diabetic patient, their body mass index and the distribution of fatty tissue are important factors for determining the optimum needle length, as well as the injection site and the injection technique to be used. In any case your doctor can help you to determine the optimum needle length for you.
