Ypsomed has been based in Schwerin since 2019 with Ypsomed Produktion GmbH. With the construction of a completely new production plant in Schwerin in northern Germany, we are setting the course for the future. The expansion of the site supports our global growth ambitions.
Additional production lines are being set up in Schwerin for our existing platform products, which were developed and industrialized in Switzerland. Most of the skilled personnel for the new site will be trained in advance at the existing production facility in Switzerland.
The production site in Schwerin comprises:
- Plastic injection molding
- Large-scale production
- Highly automated printing and assembly of components for pen systems, autoinjectors, and infusion sets
Investment in the future
In January 2025, after more than two years of planning, construction of Schwerin II began, effectively doubling the production plant at the Schwerin site. In the first construction phase, which is expected to take just under two years, the production area will be expanded by 25,000 square meters. In addition, a fully automated high-bay warehouse, an administration building, and a central technical building will be added. In the second construction phase, expected to start in 2027/28, a further 17,000 square meters of production space will be added. This will increase Ypsomed's production capacity by 400 to 500 million pens and autoinjectors per year once the expansion is complete.
