YpsoStory

In August 2022, Ypsomed reached an important milestone in the production of its world's first CO2-neutral autoinjector, YpsoMate Zero: production is now certified according to the ISCC+ standard. This is an international standard used by many plastics companies for their sustainable plastics.

Production of YpsoMate Zero ISCC+ certified
Mass balance approach along the supply chain

The certificate confirms compliance with the following criteria for the material:

  • Ensuring that no forests are cut down for the production process
  • Compliance with human, labour and land rights
  • Measurement and reduction of greenhouse gases

With this step, we are making our contribution to the circular economy by using biomaterials in our processes. The biomaterials are based on plant residues, frying fat, tall oil and other organic raw materials. These raw materials are used by our suppliers for the production of granulates. Ypsomed can now process these granulates for its ISCC+ certified sites and pass on its products to its customers with this proof. The CO2 footprint of the YpsoMate Zero can thus be reduced by 40%.

Ypsomed's goal is to convert its main platforms to biomaterials by 2030 in order to reach the net zero target.
