He has been in his current position at Ypsomed since February 2022.  Antonio does not have a classic IT background, he is a typical career changer. He has only recently completed further training to become a certified HR manager and has mainly trained in the field of human resources in the past, so he can form an optimal bridge between the HR specialist area and the IT world.

What is your job with us?

An important point is to ensure the system operation of HR applications with a focus on SAP HCM and SuccessFactors. In addition, I am involved in projects as a sub-project manager, such as cross-HR projects like S/4-HANA. I also work a lot with external consultants, develop concepts as well as strategic topics and ensure that these are optimally implemented in the operational application.

What do you like about the job and the company?

My work at Ypsomed is very versatile, I can make decisions in many places and actively participate in projects. My opinion is valued, that's important to me, and that's generally very positive at Ypsomed. The corporate culture at Ypsomed is very informal and uncomplicated. It is already a company with around 2000 employees and is growing strongly, but you can still feel the local roots with the region. This middle ground between a local Swiss company and the ever-growing international company is very exciting and it is great that we are able to accompany this growth.

What is a normal working day like for you?

There are no identical workdays. Basically, I attend numerous meetings and exchange ideas with my teammates, mainly virtually. With the FlexWork option, I really enjoy working from home. We have to coordinate and agree a lot, but of course answering emails and working through tickets is also part of my job. 30-40% of my work is conceptual, we take HR's requirements and translate them into a digital setting. In our team we recommend and advise and recognize possible stumbling blocks at an early stage by closely monitoring the testing activities. We can schedule the work ourselves, we are very flexible – you have to see for yourself how you organize yourself.

Further development with us?

I have completed my training as a federal diploma HR manager and learn on-the-job every day, I also see the experiences at work as further training.

What is life like in Solothurn / Burgdorf?

I am more in Solothurn at Ypsomed, there is a friendly and very pleasant atmosphere here. You feel very comfortable in this working atmosphere.

Do you commute? What are your experiences with it?

By car, I have never commuted by train. It takes me about 1.5 hours each way. Therefore, I am very happy about the possibility to do FlexWork. When I commute, I use the time for myself and listen to music or can visit friends in Bern. With the car, I feel more flexible.
