Success for our apprentices

From 7 to 11 September, the SwissSkills Championships took place at the BernExpo. Two Ypsomed apprentices, Gavin (polymechanics) and Fabian (IT), took part. They did very well in their competitions – Gavin came third and Fabian 18th.

The seemingly endless halls of the SwissSkills Championships were well attended for the entire duration of the event from Wednesday to Sunday. The interested guests and proud parents were able to observe on site how the participants had to solve tricky tasks under time pressure in their field of expertise. For some, the task was the skilful creation of delicious cakes, others had to expend a lot of energy laying roof tiles.

Fast and precise work in competition

Gavin worked in his category "Polymechanic Automation" for three days on a fully automatic bottle opener. He had to produce various complex milled and turned parts in a given time. Finally, he assembled the parts into an assembly that resulted in the beer opener. This included expanding a fictional online shop for high scalability, monitoring components for peak loads and troubleshooting random problems in the IT environment.

"We are very happy about the good results of our apprentices at the Swiss Championships. They mastered their tasks with a lot of skill and diligence and achieved great results," says Jasmin Heer, Young Talent Manager at Ypsomed. "We were very well represented at the SwissSkills by Gavin and Fabian, they can be proud of themselves. We can also be proud of ourselves as a training company. An apprenticeship at Ypsomed is worthwhile - we train our apprentices with high quality and promote their skills."

Attractive apprenticeship at Ypsomed

Through the two final participations of our apprentices in the SwissSkills Championships, we show that we offer exciting and good apprenticeships as an attractive employer. We are pleased that young talents are completing their apprenticeship with us and getting a good start in the working world. And we hope that by taking part in the SwissSkills, other young people will become aware of us and want to complete an apprenticeship with us.
