Ceremonial tribute to Willy Michel

After an interruption of two years, it was with great pleasure that we were able to hold the General Meeting again physically and with a record attendance in Burgdorf. At this event, the focus was on company founder Willy Michel, who had decided to pass on the " baton" and did not stand for re-election. He had already been elected Honorary Chairman of the Ypsomed Group by the Board of Directors in May and was now bid farewell with a festive programme at the General Meeting. He will be succeeded by Gilbert Achermann, who was newly elected Chairman of the Board of Directors.

The big thank you

More than 40 years ago, Willy Michel and his brother developed the first insulin pump. In the years that followed, Ypsomed developed into a flourishing and global company that helps to provide people with chronic diseases with vital therapies. In appreciation and gratitude for his great entrepreneurial and successful commitment and in recognition of his decades of service as a person of responsibility around Ypsomed and formerly Disetronic, Willy Michel was elected Honorary Chairman of the Ypsomed Group by the Board of Directors as early as 17 May 2022. In the festive framework programme of the general meeting, he was now ceremoniously honoured with a Willy Michel sculpture made of stone. The sculpture will find a dignified place in the entrance area of our headquarters in Burgdorf.

"We are enormously proud of everything my father has achieved with us together with Ypsomed. He has laid the foundation for the current and future success. With a broad chest, he can look back on his many years at Ypsomed and now devote himself to his personal private tasks - we will continue on his path", says Simon Michel, CEO and newly elected member of the Board of Directors.

In addition to the entire current Executive Board, the event was also attended by former Managing Directors and Executive Board members as well as other companions of Willy Michel. There was also "joy" during the ceremonial laudation of Willy Michel by former Federal Councillor Adolf Ogi.

Every reason to celebrate

We were able to announce many good things to the shareholders. The last business year was very positive and Willy Michel and Simon Michel once again highlighted the most important milestones. Chronic diseases cause 90% of all healthcare costs worldwide. This is where Ypsomed comes in, not just as a pure supplier of equipment, but as a provider of successful therapies. It is clear that many good things will continue to happen in the future, on our way to making self-treatment a matter of course.

The evening was rounded off by the subsequent apéro riche.
