Injection molding

Since commissioning our first injection molding infrastructure over 35 years ago, Ypsomed has been at the cutting edge of precision molding for self-injection systems, continually expanding our technical expertise and adopting next-generation technologies to remain the industry leader. All plastic components for our devices are manufactured in-house to ensure we have full control over quality, performance, and supply chain.

Extensive molding capacity

With over 170 injection molding machines ranging from 25–2800 kN, we can produce a wide variety of components to support our full portfolio of self-injection devices. Our aim is not just to mold at scale, but to do so responsibly. We are actively working to reduce the number of plastics used across platforms and increasingly incorporate bio-based materials, and we use 100% green energy to power our machines. This all helps us align with both our own and our customers’ sustainability goals.

Advanced molding techniques

Ypsomed uses both single-material and two-component molding technologies, exclusively with hot-runner systems. This setup ensures precise, efficient, and repeatable production, while allowing us to work with fully compounded materials or color masterbatch, depending on customer and device requirements.

Integrated ERP systems

Our molding and assembly equipment is fully integrated into a company-wide SAP/ERP system, which enables real-time process control, SAP-driven preventative maintenance, and optimized production flow. This digital backbone supports consistent quality and reliable supply across every product platform.
