Based across two sites in Switzerland, Burgdorf and Solothurn, Ypsomed operates state-of-the-art tool shops to fulfil our injection mold tooling needs. With over 35 years of expertise, we blend traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge toolmaking technologies. We design and produce high-precision, multi-cavity tools for new devices and scale capacity for existing platforms.
In-house tool manufacturing
We design and manufacture injection mold tooling entirely in-house. Next door to our tool shop, our pilot plant mirrors full-scale production with the same molding machines used at our commercial sites. Here, we test and qualify new tools before implementation. This integrated approach gives us complete control over timelines, quality, and the ability to iterate quickly during customer projects, working closely with on-site design, testing, and manufacturing teams.
Advanced tooling technologies
Ypsomed’s tooling capabilities are continuously evolving. We use fully automated tool electrode manufacturing systems and state-of-the-art multi-cavity mold technologies, ranging from 1-2-cavity base molds to 128-cavity production tools, to produce complex tooling with the highest repeatability and precision. While our experience runs deep, our methods reflect today’s highest standards in automation, quality, and scalability.
Innovation in mold design
We embrace innovation even at the mold design level. Ypsomed has installed the latest generation of tooling that can assemble parts within the mold itself, streamlining production and reducing downstream assembly steps. The Telescopic Look Sleeve, designed and built in-house for the first time as a 16-cavity mold, represents our commitment to smart design choices which enable more efficient, cost-effective manufacturing without compromising on quality or performance.
