The subcutaneous drug delivery landscape is evolving to accommodate high-viscosity and large-volume formulations due to the increasing prevalence of biologics and complex therapeutics. In a recent article published in ONdrugDelivery, Ypsomed experts Thomas Fontanellaz, Reto Jost, and Andreas Schneider discuss the company's approach to these challenges.

Large volume portfolio

The article highlights the YpsoMate 2.25 and YpsoMate 5.5 autoinjectors, which are designed to deliver a range of volumes effectively while managing high-viscosity drugs. The YpsoMate 2.25 accommodates fill volumes from 0.4 to 2.25 mL and can now be configured with an 8 mm needle, enhancing the delivery of thicker formulations faster than with the standard 1/2 inch needle, while improving patient comfort and usability. The YpsoMate 5.5 extends this capability to volumes up to 5.5 mL.

Additionally, the YpsoDose patch injector addresses the need for large-volume therapies, showcasing Ypsomed's focus on providing flexible solutions for various drug administration requirements.
