How old are you, where do you come from and what do you like to do in your free time?

I am 30 years old and live in Fräschels in the canton of Bern. In my free time, I do a lot of sports, go hiking or cycling and enjoy nature with my dog.

What is your role with us?

I have been working as Sustainability Manager since October 2023: my main task is to calculate the corporate carbon footprint of Ypsomed. To do this, I collect data from various stakeholders in our company and then calculate our greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, I organise events for the Sustainability Academy, to which we invite internal and external experts to provide information and discuss sustainability topics. Together with the sustainability team, I also deal with enquiries from internal stakeholders on sustainability topics.

What do you like about your work and the company?

Since I started working in the sustainability team, I have definitely had to think more creatively. Reconciling this with a highly regulated environment is both challenging and exciting. What I like about Ypsomed itself is that although you might think that sustainability and medical technology don't really go together, we still go our own way, innovate and shape a more sustainable future.

What does a normal working day look like for you?

Half of the week I work in an open-plan office in Solothurn, where I work online and on-site with various people from Ypsomed. This includes my team and stakeholders from across the organization. I regularly go jogging at lunchtime. The other half of the week I work from home and benefit from not having to commute.

How have you developed with us?

I started in 2016 with a commercial apprenticeship (KV Way Up apprenticeship) that lasted two years: in the first year, I attended two subjects at the vocational school and worked, and from the second year onwards, I was already working full-time in various departments. In 2018, I was able to take on an assistant role in 'Industrialization and Site Planning' and at the same time start my bachelor's degree in Business Administration, which I completed part-time. About halfway through my studies, I applied internally for a product manager position in the 'YpsoMate' team and worked there for three years. During this time, I completed my bachelor's degree and decided to start a part-time master's program in 2023. I asked internally if there was a vacancy in the sustainability team and was able to start in the sustainability team at the same time as my master's degree in 'Master of Science in Sustainability and Circular Innovation'. I am currently in my third semester of studying and working a 90% workload.

What is the working atmosphere like at Ypsomed?

Very cooperative and very positive – my colleagues are very solution-oriented. I have only had good experiences so far.

Do you commute? What are your experiences with that?

I work half the week in the office and the other half from home. My commute takes a good hour by public transport and around 40 minutes by car – so I prefer the car. But thanks to flexible working, it's all easily manageable.

Describe Ypsomed in three words.

Collegial, developmental opportunities and innovative.
