Thesis in die-sinking
Accompany the Individual Practical Work (IPA) with a high-quality video and then pass it with a very good grade? Lukas, a polymechanic apprentice, has achieved just that and successfully passed his IPA on die-sinking.
At the end of their training, our apprentices have to show in their final project that they are able to carry out the required tasks in a technically correct, appropriate and situationally appropriate manner. Lukas came up with something special and decided on a video recording for the practical part of the final exam.
Success through hard work
In the video sequence, he shows the die-sinking EDM process. Normally, the die-sinking eroding process is filmed from the outside. Lukas filmed the process with a camera in the dielectric (a weak or non-conductive electrical substance), including sound, for an impressive experience. He is the first apprentice at Ypsomed to have completed an IPA on die-sinking eroding. Lukas put over 80 hours of work into his project, including the presentation and exam. And he was successful: with an overall grade of 5.4 and an IPA grade of 5.5, he has every reason to be proud of his achievement.
We are delighted with Lukas' commitment and the excellent grade for his IPA and warmly congratulate him. We benefit greatly from our young talent and achievements such as these confirm that, as a good employer, we offer great apprenticeships with high-quality training,"
says Michael Maurer, Project Manager Tool Manufacturing, about Lukas's success.
Polymechanic apprenticeship at Ypsomed
From next year, we will be training an additional four polymechanics at our site in Solothurn. We offer young talents exciting insights into the world of medical technology and pass on our expertise – while also benefiting from the ideas and know-how of our apprentices.
