The SwissSkills vocational skills championships took place at BernExpo from September 17 to 21. Two polymechanics from Ypsomed, Gavin and Marcel, took part. Marcel came fourth and Gavin seventh, making them two of the top eight polymechanics in Switzerland in the CNC milling category.
The spacious halls of the SwissSkills vocational championships were very well attended throughout the entire event. Interested guests and proud parents were able to watch the participants solve tricky tasks in their field of expertise under time pressure. Right in the middle of the action: Gavin and Marcel in the CNC milling category. After intensive preparation, they were ready for the competition.
Four days of surpassing themselves
Gavin and Marcel mastered their work very well during the four days in front of numerous spectators and held their own against strong competitors with a lot of commitment and perseverance.
All participants had to produce a total of four different modules, which were measured and then evaluated by experts. These tasks tested the participants' technical knowledge and examined their manual skills. It is not expected that all modules can be produced within the specified time.
The days were long and exhausting, but perseverance paid off in the end.
We are particularly proud that two of the eight best polymechanic apprentices in Switzerland come from Ypsomed. This fact impressively demonstrates the quality, dedication, and training capabilities of our company,
says Andreas Danner, Head of Tool Manufacturing, about the success of Gavin and Marcel.
Attractive training at Ypsomed
With two of our apprentices reaching the finals of the SwissSkills Championship, we are demonstrating that we are an attractive employer offering exciting and high-quality training programs. We are delighted that young talents are completing their apprenticeships with us and getting a good start in the world of work. We congratulate Gavin and Marcel on their outstanding achievements at SwissSkills. At the same time, we hope that their success will motivate other young people to start an apprenticeship with us and to take part in SwissSkills themselves in the future.
