Our production facility in Changzhou has been awarded LEED Platinum certification. This makes the site one of the most sustainable industrial buildings in the world – an important milestone in our commitment to environmentally conscious and forward-looking production.
Sustainability as an integral part
With a total score of 81 points, Ypsomed Changzhou Manufacturing has achieved the highest level of the internationally recognized LEED certification. LEED stands for “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design” and is one of the world's leading rating systems for sustainable construction. The assessment covers, among other things, energy efficiency, resource conservation, water consumption, CO₂ emissions, and the quality of the indoor environment. With its new plant in Changzhou, China, Ypsomed is setting an example for sustainable construction through the following measures:
- Solar panels for generating renewable electricity
- Energy reduction through smart building automation and building design
- Geothermal heat pumps for air conditioning and heating the building
- Use of rainwater for cooling, irrigating green spaces, and for sanitary facilities
- Use of recycled materials in building construction
The elimination of fossil fuels at our new production sites, optimized for sustainability, is a major milestone in our NetZero Program,
says Sabine Huber, Corporate Sustainability Manager, regarding the award.
Other planned new buildings, such as the future production facilities in Schwerin (Germany) and Holly Springs (USA), are also designed in accordance with the LEED standard and thus significantly support Ypsomed’s NetZero climate goals.
The award underscores Ypsomed’s high standards in consistently integrating sustainability into the development and operation of new sites. Modern building technology, optimized energy processes, and a holistic view of environmental impacts contribute to reducing the ecological footprint in the long term.
