On 4 November 2025, Ypsomed had the honor of welcoming German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Minister President of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Manuela Schwesig to our Schwerin site. The political delegation learned more about our pen and autoinjector production as well as our tool maintenance.
Insights into modern manufacturing and dedicated employees
During a guided tour, the guests gained insights into our highly automated manufacturing processes and the precise steps required to produce safe and reliable injection systems. The Chancellor and the Minister President were particularly impressed by the dedication of our employees and apprentices, with whom they had lively discussions.
These encounters highlighted the expertise, passion, and teamwork that go into producing Ypsomed’s devices, as well as the vital role that training young professionals plays in the future of the medtech industry.
Dialogue about Ypsomed’s presence in Germany
Following the tour, our CEO, Simon Michel, and our Chairman of the Board, Gilbert Achermann, met with the Chancellor, the Minister President, and their delegation. The discussions focused on the importance of the Schwerin site as a key part of Ypsomed’s international expansion and production strategy.
Ypsomed employs around 500 people in Schwerin and trains young talents in various technical professions. The site is a central pillar of Ypsomed’s European manufacturing and supply network.
