Our commitment to sustainability

Reduce CO2 emissions
Reducing before offsetting is our credo. We aim to achieve net-zero greenhouse gases throughout our value chain by 2040. We are guided by the scientific guidelines of the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi), which has confirmed our 2023 climate targets.

Promoting the circular economy
To protect the environment and conserve resources, we are committed to the principle of the circular economy. We develop new products in line with our ecodesign guideline, minimising waste and emissions wherever possible and using more sustainable materials.

Acting responsibly
Sustainability is an integral part of the way we think and act. We see it as our social responsibility to protect the environment, to support and develop our employees and to behave ethically as people and as a company.
Our path to net-zero
The NetZero Program is Ypsomed's ambitious roadmap for reducing greenhouse gas emissions with the aim of achieving net-zero along the entire value chain by 2040. We are committed to the science-based reduction targets of the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).

Our carbon footprint along the value chain
The carbon footprint comprises the data from the year 2024 of Ypsomed AG and its subsidiaries, namely Ypsomed AG in Switzerland, Ypsomed Produktion GmbH, Germany, Ypsomed Software S.L.U., Spain, Ypsomed Manufacturing Co., Ltd, China, and the global sales subsidiaries.
Ecodesign of new products
We continuously optimise the entire lifecycle of our products and the entire value chain, from development, procurement and production, through packaging and use by users, to disposal and recycling.

Since 2021, we have been applying ecodesign principles to new product development to ensure that environmental aspects are considered at every stage of product development. From designing with a minimum number of parts to selecting sustainable materials and optimising recyclability, our commitment to environmentally friendly processes is integrated into the development of new products with the aim of minimising environmental impact throughout the product lifecycle without compromising quality or functionality.

Our sustainability approach
Contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 global goals that were adopted as part of the 2030 Agenda. They serve as a roadmap for sustainable development that combines economic progress with social justice and environmental protection. At Ypsomed, we contribute to various sustainability goals.
We make the greatest contribution to the following five goals:
Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)
We integrate sustainability holistically across our business and value chain. We disclose our strategy, targets, actions and progress - for example in the GRI-index based on the principles of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Environmental management system
Ypsomed AG and its production sites in Switzerland and Germany are certified to ISO 14001. This standard requires products and services to be considered over their entire life cycle, thus creating the basis for circular solutions and improved environmental performance.
Materiality analysis
In a materiality analysis, we consider both the impact of sustainability issues on our business (outside-in) and the impact of our activities on society and the environment (inside-out), in line with the principle of dual materiality.
